Greetings from Whitehorse!

We just finished our longest day of the event, covering about 800 miles from New Hazelton, BC to Whitehorse, Yukon.  The Yukon/BC border is the 60th parallel, and we spent most of the day north of 60mph... including the final 250 miles from the junction of the Cassair and Alaska Highways this evening during which we averaged 65mph including a quick stop for gas.  Fortunately we didn't see the famous red and blue northern lights.

Here's a quick recap of day two since we weren't able to keep the wireless connection open long enough for all of us to post blogs.  We started the day just outside of Quesnel at the Parkland School, where all of the little kids came out and checked out the cars.  They were especially fond of the nifty Hankook tire decals we brought along to pass out along the route,  in appreciation of Hankook suppplying us with wonderfully grippy studded tires.  Following the  impromptu show and tell, we headed off to a couple of tricky TSDs including a portion of the Blackwater road.  Hopefully Jeff will get some of our incar video posted soon, so you can see just how fun this road was.  We had another good day, finishing second for the day behind a three way tie for first.

Today started with a 375+ mile transit up the Cassiar Highway to Dease Lake for lunch at Mama Z's, with a planned fuel stop at the Bell II heliskiing resort.  Unfortunately, about 20 miles before we arrived there we heard radio chatter that the pump was broken.  Their storage tank was full, but the pump was broken, and they had 24 rally cars wanting gas... fortunately we all made it the extra 90 miles up to Iskut, thanks to the spare gas we're carrying up on our BajaRacks!  We finally made lunch at Mama Z's, and the lasagna was excellent!  Following lunch we had a quick TSD up the Cassair, followed by another long transit including 250 miles on the Alaska Highway from the Cassair Junction to Whitehorse.  The scenery along the Cassiar is amazing as it runs through a valley with amazing mountains all around.  We took tons of pictures today, so hopefully we can get a few posted later.

No scores are available tonight, but we feel good about the TSD today so hopefully we made up some ground on the lead cars.

Tomorrow is the first Ice Race of the event on a lake right here in Whitehorse, then we drive up to Dawson City.  It's been a very long day, it's time for sleep...
